Spirituality@Work
Inspired by the faith, love and messages of Paramhansa Ramakrishna, Maa Sarada and Swami Vivekananda, the World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality has been held with great success and acclamation for the last six years in Kolkata.
Sach Bharat— an India that stands glorified through spirituality, righteousness, idealism and self-governance— can be an essential complement for a Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat and Shikshit Bharat. Building on our strong and wide sense of spirituality that permeates the personal lives of millions of Indians, we believe that Sach Bharat can be achieved by promoting Spirituality at Work.
Spirituality is not related to a particular religion. It encompasses humanity. It is eternal and inherent in nature. However, today humanity is seized by poverty, terrorism, destruction, torture by a section, amassing wealth, food adulteration, branding of food with injurious matters, food crisis, global warming, religious fanaticism and absolute corruption.
For multiple reasons, spirituality is essential for work which has to be infused in every individual from top to bottom. The impact of spirituality at work gives insight into complex business problems. It gives people strength to stand tall during the storms of recession.
The scriptures of all religions carry the same message, “Be rich by righteous ways and means, but be simple with austerity, not to waste, not to allow waste, and create wealth to generate wealth, be honest in dealings, thoughts and actions, and work hard and fearlessly.”
Swami Chinmayananda calls the world a “cosmic world of cooperative action.” Cooperation has to come from within, from the dharma (righteous) and culture for genuine cooperative action that is right in what is done, but also righteousness in how it is done. Self-governed organizations go much beyond the law, because they believe that right actions bring their own reward, not in just heaven or for liberation but right here in the real world. Every action has its reaction – law of science, physics, chemistry and KARMA.
With the infusion of spirituality at work, people work hard, give their best with righteousness without craving for motivation and incentives imbibed by Lord Krishna’s message to Arjuna in the Gita. You have right over your respective duty only, but no control over the result. Fruits of work should not be your motive.
To conclude, spirituality is the burning need at work for the right attitude, righteousness, devotion to work, commitment to innovation, deep insight and intention, unified cooperation in work, teamwork, profit with the right means/ways not motivated by greed but self-confidence, faith in self and others, peace and harmony, fearlessness, creation of wealth for the generation of wealth.

“Mere good governance is not enough. It has to be pro-people and pro-active. Good governance is putting people at the centre of development process”.
Shri Narendra Modi
Hon’ble Prime Minister, India
